Our a cappella choral music repertoire shows a wide selection ranging from standard classic pieces to all-time favorite international folksongs in addition to Negro spirituals, Christian/gospel songs, love songs, patriotic songs and well-loved Filipino folksongs that were especially arranged for the group’s wide vocal dexterity and prowess.
Back in 1999, Ms. Sharon, who was then a music instructor in Febias Bible College, dreamt of starting a Christian singing group with a Mission. Three years later, her dreams started to take form with the help of her former teacher in Febias College of Bible. Still nameless, the group sought the help of Professor Veneracion who came up with the term “Coro Cantabile” which means: a choir that sings smoothly and beautifully.
On March 2002, Coro Cantabile was established as a non-stock, non-profit organization. With the common purpose of creating “excellent music that touches lives” through choral a capella, volunteer conductors, music teachers, musicians and young professionals from different churches in the Philippines gathered.
Coro Cantabile is committed to promote the deep and rich heritage of our Filipino culture and talent. Their a capella choral music repertoire displays a wide-range of selection from standard classical pieces to all-time favorite international folk songs in addition to Negro-spirituals, Gospel songs, love songs, patriotic songs and well-loved Filipino folk songs that were especially arranged for the group’s wide vocal dexterity and prowess.
For 15 years, the group has had extensive opportunities and privileges to tour and minister across the globe - Europe, Australia, Asia, and the UAE through cultural and evangelistic concerts, music workshops, and trainings. They also organize an annual choral festival called “Coro Et al”, where they invite choirs from different churches, schools, government offices, and communities to promote camaraderie, establish friendship, and provide avenues for exposure to other choral singing techniques and styles.
Other than singing, Coro Cantabile has been sharing God’s provision through actively reaching out to the cancer-afflicted children at the East Avenue Medical Center and the annual Shoebox Ministry to children from selected marginalized communities including the recent Typhoon Yolanda surviving community in MacArthur and Javier Leyte.
